Description

This Quilt is from our Master Printer Range and features the work of a select few printers who are known for excellence in their field. Whilst all our quilts are a quality print, these are the crème de le crème.

Soft snuggly Jaipur Razai comforters are our favourite quilts for all year round.

Originally crafted to keep folks warm during the chilly desert nights, these quilts quickly became a symbol of luxury, thanks to their intricate designs and unmatched craftsmanship. They were originally only for Rajput kings in Rajasthan, but now anyone can have one of these snuggly quilts in their home.

What makes a Jaipur Razai so special? It’s all about the details. These quilts are incredibly lightweight but ideal for every season – the perfect combo! The magic starts with finely combed cotton that’s carded by hand to get just the right fluffiness. This cotton filling is then spread between two layers of soft cotton voile fabric.

The real fun begins with "tagaai," the traditional hand quilting technique. Small, even stitches hold everything together and add a touch of elegance. And then there’s the block printing – an art in itself. Using hand-carved wooden blocks artisans create stunning patterns inspired by nature, folklore, and local mythology. Think vibrant colours and timeless designs, all telling a unique story.

Jaipur Razai quilts are more than just bedding; they’re a piece of Rajasthan’s soul. Each quilt reflects the rich cultural heritage of the region. The patterns and colours often draw from local legends and the natural world, making each piece a cultural treasure. Plus, the use of natural dyes or ASO free dyes, and sustainable materials shows a commitment to eco-friendly practices long before they became trendy.

We want to help keep the tradition alive, the craft of making these quilts isn’t just a job; it’s a family tradition. Skills are handed down from generation to generation, with whole families working together to create these beautiful pieces. This not only preserves the craft but also provides livelihoods for many artisans in and around Jaipur.
